What is a metal credit card?

A metal credit card functions like a regular plastic credit card, but it’s typically made with a metal core, such as stainless steel or brass. What sets these cards apart is their noticeable weight and solid feel, which give them a more substantial and premium quality. Designed to convey exclusivity and prestige, metal credit cards offer both enhanced durability and a touch of luxury.

While metal cards are often linked to high-end or premium offerings from financial institutions, companies like Metal Card Studio Inc. have recently begun offering services to convert standard plastic cards into metal ones, making this upgrade more accessible.

How to get a metal credit card?

To get a metal credit card, you can go through the traditional route of applying for one at a financial institution such as American Express, CIBC, TD, or BMO. However, these cards often require a high income ($150,000+), high annual fees, and a high minimum annual spend in order to keep the card.

Alternatively, you can trust Metal Card Studio to convert any ordinary plastic credit card into a custom metal credit card for you at a low one-time cost.

How does your credit card conversion process work?

Our process is quick, easy, and secure!

Once we receive your credit or debit card, we extract the EMV chip and magnetic stripe data and transfer them to your new metal card. Afterwards, we’ll engrave your chosen design onto the front and back of the card. We then ship both cards back to you via free UPS shipping.

We have strict policies in place to ensure that your card information is kept secure at all times, and will never be misused.

How long will it take for me to receive my new card?

Once we receive your card in the mail, we perform the transfer on the same day. We’ll then ship it back to you via free UPS shipping which typically takes:

1 to 2 days in Canada
2 – 3 days in the US
5 – 7 days everywhere else

Do you have a physical location I can visit?

Yes! We’re currently taking appointments only. Send us a message if you’re interested.

Will my credit card details be safe?

Absolutely! Metal Card Studio Inc. is a registered Canadian corporation. We have strict policies in place to ensure that none of your card information is stored or misused.

Once the procedure is complete, we’ll mail your old card and your new card back to you.

How do I know you won't steal my credit card information?

It’s highly illegal to steal and misuse someone else’s credit card information. The consequences involve severe fines and imprisonment and we’d like to avoid both!

Will contactless payment / tap work on my new metal credit card?

Our cards are made of solid metal, which cannot tap.

Plastic credit cards have antennas built into the cards that enable them to support contactless payment. These antennas cannot be carried over to solid metal cards.

It’s a small sacrifice in exchange for a premium, heavy metal credit card.

While tap won’t work with your new card, you can still connect your card to Google Pay or Apply Pay for the contactless payment functionality.

What happens if I convert my credit card into metal but it expires?

We understand that credit cards expire! We offer a discount for credit cards that expire within 2 years of your order date. We’re happy to engrave a completely new card for you for just $89 CAD + tax.

We can either reuse the design of your expired metal credit card, or you can select one of our pre-made designs.
